Today in Social Studies, we started our unit on the original 13 Colonies.  Working as historians, using the elements of depth and complexity, students will create a "fandex" for each of the thirteen colonies. Their research will consist of:
  • Differentiating the 3 groups of colonies (New England, Middle, Southern)
  • Identifying the 13 colonies
  • Understanding who founded the colony, and the origin of the name
  • Identifying the religion practiced at the colony
  • Identifying the reason for establishment of the colony
  • Identifying which cities and towns were part of the colony
  • Understanding which products were produced and traded in each colony
In addition, students will have the opportunity to earn extra credit by conducting further research into their colony.

In Science, we began our Code Blue Interact! Students have completed medical school and have recently been hired to work in a Medical Clinic. Before being allowed to treat patients, students will need to be trained in their specialty. Together with others in their specialty, they will attend advanced training to learn one of six body systems. They will be the only physician in their clinic with that particular specialty, so they will be expected to work very had to learn their system well. Their clinic is relying on them for the information. More details about this in the next post.
